The goal of the retreat was to encourage the next generation to live their lives for the glory of God - specifically to live without borders. We desired to show what can be accomplished when we give ourselves intentionally to a specific purpose. With that in mind, we announced a special project to the youth that were present.
Soon after, the teens - brimming with excitement - began sharing this very special project. Some even gave to the cause themselves!
We all eagerly checked our phones throughout the course of the day, praying that we would somehow reach this monumental goal by the end of the week.
You can imagine our surprise when less than twenty four hours later, we had raised $1,200 dollars!
But wait, that's not all. They were so excited about how quickly we reached our goal for that first trip, that they asked to adjust the goal to $2,200, so that further outreach could be done in that area! At the moment I am writing this article, $1,440 has been raised for the Kavara people.
"Certainly God couldn't use me."
"He couldn't use them."
"I have no ability to make a difference."
Like Moses in the desert we argue with God about our imperfections and our inabilities, yet God always responds to His children - in different ways but in same essence - "Who hath made man's mouth?" (Exodus 4:11)
Brother and sister reading this article, I beg you to ask yourself: Who created your mouth? Who gifted you with talents, abilities, and influence - however great or small? Are you not a vessel for the use of God?
Those 12-16 year old kids simply picked up their phone and shared a link. An action which yielded more fruit than could be possibly apparent to us in this present life. Because of that simple act of intentional faith, a group that has literally never heard the name of Jesus Christ will be visited by a group of pastors very soon.
Tell me again what you are waiting for. Would you be willing to take a step of faith, and utilize the means God has given you - not for material wealth or blessing - but to make a difference for the Kingdom?
